After a diploma in Nature Conservation, Liz Roodt worked with CARE - Phalaborwa, a wildlife rehabilitation centre specialising in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-introduction of the Chacma baboon. She realised the need for veterinary skills if she were to stay in the field of primates and conservation and so did her degree in Veterinary Nursing at Onderstepoort, Pretoria. Her volunteer work included Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Uganda and Sanaga Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Centre, Cameroon. She is presently working on starting up a new chimp sanctuary in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nicole Geller worked with SANCCOB - Cape Town, a wildife rehabilitation centre specialising in the rehabilitation and reintroduction of oiled sea birds. She also worked with Chacma baboons at the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education (CARE) in Phalaborwa - South Africa. Nicole gained valuable rehabilitation skills working with Stephanie Woolf (Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre - WRC), Somerset West -Cape. In July 2006 she joined Liz in the Democratic Republic of Congo to create a much needed chimpanzee sanctuary.
